Emerson’s New Fisher® Design TBX Steam Conditioning Valve Delivers Stable, Reliable Performance in the Most Severe Applications

MARSHALLTOWN, IOWA (May 19, 2003)-- Emerson Process Management introduces the Fisher® Design TBX valve to handle the most severe steam conditioning applications found in today’s cycling power plants, as well as to provide precise combined pressure-temperature control within process applications.

The Fisher TBX valve features a flow up configuration to provide increased operating stability and ease of maintenance. It incorporates Fisher’s low noise Whisper Trim® technology within a simplified trim configuration that accommodates rapid changes in temperature (e.g., as experienced during a turbine trip.)

Grounded in more than 20 years of steam conditioning experience, and using the latest finite element analysis (FEA) design tools, Emerson engineers developed the TBX valve design to give optimized performance and assure reliability for demanding steam applications.

Atomization and vaporization are key elements in any steam conditioning application. The TBX incorporates a manifold of variable geometry Type AF nozzles that produce a fine spray mist over a wide operating range. These nozzles are placed strategically based upon extensive computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analyses, and their efficiency has been validated by field performance feedback.

As a core component of the PlantWeb digital plant architecture, Fisher Design TBX steam conditioning valves work with FIELDVUE® controllers to deliver better process control and predictive diagnostics information that enables improved reliability and maintenance efficiency. Further cost savings, increased plant availability, and enhanced safety and environmental compliance are achieved when the Fisher digital valves are integrated into the PlantWeb architecture.
