Asia-Pacific Power Team Wins US$4.7m Lungmen Project
Emerson Process Management’s Asia-Pacific Power Team secured the Lungmen Nuclear Power No. 4 project, worth US$4.7 million, on February 2004. This project is the fourth and largest investment in a broad building programme for the Taiwan Power Company. A 2,700 MW plant, consisting of two units, will be built at Yenliao, near Taipei.
Emerson will produce 600 units of control valves, of which 100 units are large size ANSI 600 rated SST valves with weld-on nipples for inlets and outlets. 24 units to be used in seawater applications will be constructed out of 6% Molybdenum stainless steel, a specialty material. In addition, 110 units of remote mount DVC6000s will also be supplied for valves located within the radioactive zone.
Emerson’s prompt and precise technical responses to Taiwan Power Company and Stone & Webster (an engineering-construction company) was a crucial factor in the project win. This would not have been possible if not for the close cooperation with Nippon Fisher and the Nilai manufacturing facility.
